Tooth jewels can be bonded to any healthy tooth. They cannot be applied to teeth with cavities, demineralization, or porcelain restorations. Are tooth gems permanent? Tooth gems are bonded to your tooth, so unless it is damaged, your tooth gem can last from 6 weeks to a year+ Will tooth gems affect the way I eat, drink or speak? Tooth gems should not affect your speech and you should be able to speak clearly with them. In terms of interfering with eating or drinking, this is dependent on the jewelry and placement you select. Can I Brush my Teeth as Usual? It's advise not to brush with an electric toothbrush 24 hours after the technician place the jewels. Brush your teeth as usual, because tooth gems offer a new place for bacteria or food to hide. What Happens If The Jewel Falls Off And I Swallow It? The gems are little acrylic or glass gems or gold. They have no sharp edges. It will fundamentally be excreted out “the normal way”. Can I still have my teeth cleaned by my dental professional? Yes. You can, and should still have your teeth cleaned by a dental professional. Tooth gems should not cause a problem for the hygienist cleaning your teeth. The area underneath the gem is sealed like a filling and will not let in any bacteria. The hygienist can easily polish on top and around the gem. Will I feel the crystal on my tooth? They range in size from 1.8mm, 2.15mm, and 2.65 mm. Initially, something on your tooth will feel different, but a few days after the application you will get used to the new feeling. How do I remove the tooth gem when I no longer want it? Tooth gems are 100% reversible. If you would like to remove your tooth gem it can be taken off by your dentist at any time. The tooth will be polished to remove any remaining bonding material. Can I attach a Tooth Jewel to a child’s tooth? Yes. There is no more risk applying a Tooth Jewel to a child’s tooth than an adult’s. Dentists have been using the same bonding system to fit braces to children’s teeth for many years with no adverse effect. It is important, however, that a parent or guardian signs your client contract form giving their permission for a Tooth Jewel application to anyone under the age of 18.
